Breathing Pain

Beecroft, Australia

Your laugh echoesWith it comes painPain that wades through my mindPast the words to block it

My skin tinglesA reminder of the days of agoOf your cursesCurses of a gift to hear

My heart thumpsIt spreads to my throatI breatheI breathe

There is a person breathing tooNext to meHis hands hold mineI breathe

Through my thumping heartA familiar shape appearsHis crossOf pain too

He sings a lullabyOf blessings to hearOf hope to hearOf His Word to hear

My heart calmsStill He doesn’t stopMy mind calmsI sing the lullaby too

All is calmI hear your laughBut I don’t runI sing
