Beating the Storm

Alec Zollman

I zoom uphillTake a cautious turn onto the roadCoasting downhill feels greatLike jumping in the oceanNo pedaling, a cool breezeStill lurking in my mindThe thought of pushing the limitTo go back uphillI slowly come across a steep hillMy thighs burnI am going in slow motionBut it is worth going up this hillFor the thrill of going down the other sideThe cool air whips across my shirtless skinI rocket down the hill

Hill by hill I pedalUntil my body feels like one big wet noodleA storm cloud approachesMaking it more of a challenge to get to the lake

The air feels like swimming in hot waterI finally reach the last hillMy energy burstsLike squeezing water from a sponge

I reach the lakeRelief fills my bodyFirst move… JUMP INThe water is perfect
