Coltsfoot
by Cordelia S.R. Woodard
Cordelia S.R. Woodard
Coltsfoot
pokes its coltshead
through the melting ground.
Like a new butterfly
it unfolds its winglike petals.
So round
and the yellow
like a fresh sun
marks the start of spring.
