Doing the Tango

John Roberts

In my house, we celebrate everything.Even the smallest things.Good grades on a test.Learning that we are goingOn vacation.Even a surprise present. The reward is“doing the tango.”

The dogs want to join inAnd scramble to find a toyA bone, a partner to celebrateThe joyful dance.

Learning to do the tangoWas a hard job in itself. When I was young,The turn and the switchOf handsWas the most challenging.

Now it comes naturallyThe greatest part of allIs seeing the joyOn my mother’s faceWhen she knowsThere is good news,MeaningWe get to dance the tango.
