I Am a Golden Trout

I Am a Golden Trout Colin Johnson

The sound of silence shattersWhen a buzzing fly splashes into a cool freshwater lakeThe water, like liquid tourmalines, ripples to kissthe sun-bleached shore

I wait for a delicious, squishy fly to plop into striking rangeAnxious yet excitedEach time is as thrilling as the first

I strike like a ravenous eagleWHAM!I clamp the sweet, juicy fly between my jaws like a wrenchGULP!What a luscious fly!I descend into the liquid silk waterTo snooze in my blanket of warm earthy mud
