Rainy Night

Lucy Watkins

Dark, wet, scaryThe world outside quivers

Raindrops above our headsTwo umbrellas black

We sit on wet earthThe world darkens

One umbrella leavesOne umbrella alone

Crickets quietCicadas chirp and flee

One umbrella returnsTwo umbrellas moving

Across the rainy night
