I run my fingers across the shelvesWaiting for one to catch my eyeRow after row my fingers runFailure takes a step closerBut there in the dusty cornerHidden by the screen of forgetLies the love of my life that will only last a couple of hours

Bright red with gold letteringA hard skin protecting its insidesNo telling what it’s likeBut I have a good feeling

Gently I pick my discovery upTo me, it’s a block of goldMy breath stirs the grime on topI back up slowly and sit on the carpeted floorReady for an adventure, I lift the hard coverMy eyes move from left to rightAs the personality of the book in my hands is revealed
