The Sun’s Sister

Katja Muckle Eizenberg

I am the sunSo big and boldMy seeds leave meWhen I’m oldI stand and sway watching them fly away to freedomBobbing in the breezeAnd finally landing in the shade beneathThe treesBut now it is SpringAnd I am blooming brightNow it is Summer and I am still a lovely sightFall is here and I look like the moonAll of my seeds will leave me soonSoon is here as they blow awaySoon is here as one little one staysThe moment is hereThe moment is sad but happyBad but goodThe moment is here as the last seed blows awayThe moment is here as I close my eyesAnd enter a long winter’s sleep
