Moonlight Waltz, music by Micah Lim, 11

Micah Lim, 11Guilford, CT Moonlight Waltz Micah Lim, 11 “Moonlight Waltz” is a new piece written for piano, saxophone, and drums. I was inspired to compose this when I started learning about jazz style. I wanted to incorporate some of the things I learned to compose a waltz. It is called “Moonlight Waltz” because I imagine dances under moonlight to be very beautiful.       You can listen to Micah performing his music by clicking the image of the music on the left. Warning: you will probably find yourself starting to waltz around the room as the music plays! If you are a pianist or saxophonist, why not try playing Micah’s piece yourself? You can download and print off a copy of the sheet music here.

It Was, a poem by Grace Mancini, 11

Grace Mancini, 11Glenside, PA It Was Grace Mancini, 11 It was red, like a ripe strawberry It was orange, like a bright neon glow It was yellow, like the blinding sun It was green, like the soft touch of grass It was blue, like the depths of the ocean It was purple, like a lilac in full bloom It was spreading farther then my fingertips could ever touch It was the world So warm So welcoming Yet so far away from the mess that we are living in.

Daily Creativity #46 | Flash Contest: Write a Mystery

Write a mystery story. Think about the arc of your story, and plan out the actions and motives of the characters. Does the reader know something the characters don’t, or is the reader in the dark until the end? Think about how the mystery might unfold for the different characters and for your readers. Editor’s note: Today’s Daily Creativity prompt is another challenge set by Anya Geist, Stone Soup reader and contributor, so for this week’s contest, she will ,join the Stone Soup team once again as a co-judge!
