Grace Mancini, 11Glenside, PA Today Grace Mancini, 11 Today I woke up snuggled in a blanket The birds were singing a lively melody Usually my blanket is draped messily over my body And the birds aren’t chirping a single note Today I ate a nice and healthy breakfast Usually I just eat half of an apple Today I got dressed and ready for the day Usually I just mope around in my pajamas Today I had a great, big lunch Usually I just crunch on some Pringles Today I FaceTimed my friends with a smile on my face Usually it makes me sad Tonight I had a delicious pizza for dinner Usually I just eat leftovers Tonight I curled up into my bed Usually I slump into it, complaining about something Tonight I smiled And told myself There will be a brighter tomorrow All my problems will fade away Eventually

We’ll be Back, a poem inspired by a song by Olivia Titus, 11
Olivia Titus, 11Houston, TX We’ll be Back Olivia Titus, 11 We’re all gone No one we can see Days filled with yawns Don’t talk to me The calls don’t work Families can’t agree We’re going berserk Everyone can see Everything’s cancelled All bored at home Just some examples But we’re not alone And we’ll be back Giving elbow bumps Wearing our masks This virus we’ll trump And we’ll be back We’ll get a move on Make a comeback Coronavirus will be gone Some time ahead We’ll look upon These terrible days But now Covid is gone. This poem was entered in our weekly Flash Contest #20 (to write a poem inspired by a piece of music), and is inspired by the King’s song from the musical Hamilton, “You’ll Be Back.”
Thank You Doctors, a poem by Arshia Ramesh, 10
Arshia Ramesh, 10Overland Park, KS Thank You Doctors Arshia Ramesh, 10 I’ve been watching you for some time, I can’t imagine what you do every day. Crashing waves and burning skies, You seem calm during this hard time. People are sick and gonna die, But you save them with your diamond mind. You’ve been taking double shifts to make us feel alright, Thank you for being a supporter in this hard time. I’ve been walking in a world gone blind, I don’t know how to feel in this pandemic time I have been thinking for a while I wish the world will go back to its old time.
